A&E has announced that it is developing Good in the Hood, a new reality series produced by rapper and actor Ice Cube that explores stories of personal redemption.  Good in the Hood will feature real people who have "pulled themselves back from the edge" as they attempt to right the lives of others they care for who also need to be saved.

"The show is a way to demonstrate what is going on in a positive way in the urban community," said Ice Cube.  "It is very important for me as an artist and individual to make sure these stories are told and I am grateful to A&E to allow us to do this."

Each Good in the Hood episode will begin with Ice Cube introducing viewers to an individual with a troubled past, be it a drug dealer, gang member or single-mother who was a victim of domestic violence.  While their backgrounds may be different -- they do have one thing in common -- each has found a place where they can now reach their goals and dreams.  However for Good in the Hood they will return to their past to try and save someone else from the same mistakes they had previously made.

"In a society where the media exploits and sensationalizes negative headlines, this show will take the viewer on an emotional and gripping roller coaster ride as they watch someone try and pay it forward and I'm thrilled to be working with A&E on what we hope will be a groundbreaking series," said Good in the Hood producer Dave Broome, who also produces The Biggest Loser for NBC.

While casting for Good in the Hood has already commenced, A&E has yet to green light the series.  Robert Sharenow and Colleen Conway are the A&E executive producers. Broome, Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez are the series executive producers. Good in the Hood is produced for A&E Network by 25/7 Productions and Cube Vision Productions.
