On July 6, the Big Brother Instagram account posted a photo that appears to show a wooden hat resting on a cloth-wrapped box with a Nine of Hearts playing card next to it.
The caption stated "lucky you" and included #BB27, #BigBrother and #Clue hashtags.
When Big Brother 23 began, the season featured a casino theme that included a weekly "Wildcard Competition." The 16 houseguests were also divided into four teams of four and competed in a Head of Household competition called "House of Cards" to determine the season's first HoH.
Additionally, the names of the four initial teams were Aces, Jokers, Kings, and Queens, and the casino theme continued with a "High Roller's Room" that was introduced later in the season.
Derek served as a co-host on Big Brother Reindeer Games, a holiday-themed competition which CBS aired in December 2023.
During Big Brother Reindeer Games, Derek wore a holiday-themed costume which included a large elf hat and the set included many wrapped gift boxes.
In addition, Derek and Claire also wore traditional Austrian clothing -- including classic Alpine hats -- during the second leg of The Amazing Race.
