On July 6, the Big Brother Instagram account posted a photo showing two arched build-in bookcases in the Big Brother house and captioned it "meet me in the study...", adding #BB27, #BigBrother and #Clue as hashtags.
While Derek currently lives in San Francisco, he is originally from Baltimore, and one of the study's bookshelves contains a large statue of a raven.
Renowned writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe lived and worked in Baltimore, and his most famous poem, "The Raven," is deeply associated with the city. It is the reason the NFL's Baltimore franchise was named the Baltimore Ravens.
Another bookshelf also features a large rook chess piece that appears to match the style of Season 23's chess set.
The bookcases also contain large "B" and "V" bookends. During Big Brother 23, Derek won the season's first two Power of Veto competitions, after which Christian Birkenberger won the next two PoV competitions.
Then in Week 5, Derek won the season's Head of Household competition and boldly devised a "backdoor plan" that resulted in the eviction of Christian.
