Actor Vincent Irizarry is set to play a new character on TV's "The Young & the Restless," while the show fired actress Eileen Davidson.

Soap Opera Digest reported that Irizarry will play David Chow, described as someone who has past connections with a current "Y&R" character.

Davidson, who has been on the show since 1982, admitted to dissatisfaction with the role of her character, Ashley.

The "Y&R" cast changes will take place in January, the Digest reported.
