'The Real Housewives' star's drinking reportedly putting 'family in peril'

By Elizabeth Kwiatkowski, 02/01/2011

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards has reportedly left her family in "peril" over her refusal to allow them to help with her alleged drinking problem.

"Her family and friends have tried to help her and she's not willing to accept the help, leaving everyone in her family in peril because of her stubbornness," a source told RadarOnline.

"Her daughters have been trying to move out of their mom's house because the drinking is that bad."

Richards decided not to join the rest of her The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills castmates at the taping of Wednesday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show because Bravo's January 20 broadcast of the reality series' season finale -- which revealed Richards' alleged alcoholism on national television --  humiliated her, RadarOnline reported Tuesday.

"She's not doing Ellen because Bravo aired that she was an alcoholic on the reality show and she didn't want that to be made public," the source said.

Richards reportedly cannot come to grips with her excessive drinking habits, which is why sobering up may be so difficult for her.

"She's not willing to admit she's an alcoholic. That's why she left rehab after one week," the source explained.
