The Bachelorette bachelor Ben Higgins might've been using Kaitlyn Bristowe to heal his broken heart.

Higgins, who is still in the running to win Bristowe's heart on The Bachelorette's eleventh season, went on the show for the wrong reasons, OK! Weekly reported.

Higgins was reportedly so fresh out of a relationship with his ex-girlfriend Shaelin Adams, he still cared for her deeply when wooing Bristowe.

"He told me he loves me a few times even after the breakup," Adams told OK!, suggesting Higgins hadn't moved on from her although he insisted he was ready to get serious with Bristowe and have a future with her. "It was hard for him to let go."

Adams explained she had dumped The Bachelorette suitor after moving to Texas and Higgins probably appeared on the ABC reality dating series as revenge -- just to get her back.

"I wouldn't put it past any guy to use another girl to make his ex jealous," Adams told the magazine.

In an episode that aired a couple weeks ago, Higgins opened up about a past relationship but was hesitant to get into detail. Based on what Higgins said, he was likely talking about Adams.

Higgins explained to Bristowe during a one-on-one date he had been in a long-distance relationship for a while and The Bachelorette process was difficult for him because he was expected to be vulnerable and let his guard down so quickly.

Higgins said his ex-girlfriend "lost the chase" although he had "centered" his life around their relationship. Despite the hurt his former flame caused, Higgins told Bristowe he could see himself falling in love with her on the show.

The Bachelorette's next episode airs Monday night at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
