Soul Asylum has finished its first new studio album in seven years and its last album with bassist Karl Mueller, who died of throat cancer in June.

Columbia/Legacy is releasing the untitled album in June, Billboard.com reports. A tour will follow featuring founding members Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy, former Replacements bassist Tony Stinson and drummer Michael Bland.
Pirner told Billboard.com the album is bittersweet, since Mueller was gravely ill during recording, but continued to contribute until the end.
"It makes me think of Karl," Pirner said. "It was long overdue to record exclusively in Minneapolis because we hadn't done so in 15 years, and the natural surroundings of home was something we needed. We feel extra proud of it because we did it on our own."
Soul Asylum's last album was the 1998 "Candy From a Stranger."
