Seth Meyers taking over Tina Fey's 'SNL' 'Weekend Update' spot

"Saturday Night Live" has tapped Seth Myers to fill the "Weekend Update" co-anchor chair vacated by Tina Fey, the New York-based comedy show announced.

When "SNL" makes its season debut on NBC this Saturday, Myers will be delivering the news parody with Amy Poehler, TVWeek.com reported.
Myers, a five year "SNL" veteran, was also recently promoted to head writer status along with Andrew Steele and Paula Pell.
Former head writer Fey left "SNL" for her own NBC comedy series, "30 Rock."
