Report: The CW working on new 'Beverly Hills, 90210' TV show spinoff
UPI News Service, 03/13/2008
The CW network reportedly is working on a contemporary spinoff of "Beverly Hills, 90210," the 1990s soap about wealthy teens living in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The Hollywood Reporter said the network is expected to make a decision by the end of the month regarding whether to greenlight a pilot. Rob Thomas, creator of the acclaimed teen detective series "Veronica Mars," is in talks to write the project, the entertainment industry trade paper said.
While it is unclear whether any of the characters from the original show might be incorporated into the new series, sources told The Hollywood Reporter "90210" creator Darren Star is not involved.
