Randy Quaid and his wife Evi claim "star whackers" want to kill them

UPI News Service, 11/01/2010

Randy Quaid and his wife Evi say a group of shadowy figures they called "star whackers" want to ruin his career and kill them both.

The couple have been in the news for more than a year for their bizarre behavior and brushes with the law, which include skipping out on hotel bills, squatting in properties they formerly owned, resisting arrest and failing to appear in court as scheduled.

But E! News said the Quaids claim they are on the run from unnamed agents who are bugging their phones, hacking into their computers and following their every move.

"To have my integrity and my reputation denigrated so mercilessly, why?" E! News reported Randy Quaid said on TV's "Good Morning America" Monday. "Why would someone want to do this to me?"

"We are refugees," his wife added. "Hollywood refugees. I genuinely feel like these people are trying to kill us. ...

"Who would be trying to kill us? An estate planner, who had created a living trust, and a county that could cash Randy's royalty stream forever ... For the money."

"We're just trying to find some safety and security in this," he said.

The actor went on to say he believes "it is very possible" Heath Ledger and David Carradine were murdered, and Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Mel Gibson may be targeted by the same group out to get him, E! News said.

Randy Quaid is best known for his work in the "National Lampoon's Vacation" movies, as well as "Brokeback Mountain," "The Paper," "Kingpin" and "Independence Day."
