UPI News Service, 03/24/2005

Peter Liguori has been named president of entertainment for the Fox Broadcasting Co., News Corp. president Peter Chernin announced Thursday.

Liguori succeeds Gail Berman, who left Fox this week for an executive position at Paramount Pictures. Chernin said Ligouri will be responsible for all program development and scheduling at Fox TV -- as well as marketing, business affairs and promotions.

Liguori previously served as president and chief executive officer of News Corp.'s FX Networks since 1998. During his tenure, FX developed such cable hits as "Nip/Tuck,""The Shield" and "Rescue Me."

"Peter has done an extraordinary job with FX," said Chernin. "He took what was largely a blank slate and turned it into arguably the hottest network in cable."

Most recently, Liguori and FX have developed "30 Days" -- a new documentary series from Academy Award nominee Morgan Spurlock ("Super Size Me") -- as well as the battle drama "Over There" by "NYPD Blue" creator Stephen Bochco.
