Miley Cyrus has revealed the eyebrow-raising advice she'll give her The Voice team when she serves as a coach on Season 11 this fall.

"I don't want this to come off the wrong way, but I'm going to tell my contestants: Be Bernie Sanders," Cyrus, 23, told Elle magazine as part of a larger interview in its October issue.

"Be the person people want and love. Don't worry about the masses. That's how you make a memorable moment. Let people talk about it."

Cyrus, a best-selling recording artist, hasn't starred on television since her infamous role on Disney Channel's Hannah Montana wrapped in 2011.

So it's a huge deal that in one week, Cyrus will be joining Alicia Keys, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine on The Voice, one of television's most popular shows, when it premieres Monday, September 19 at 8PM ET/PT on NBC.

Cyrus signed on to do The Voice because she apparently wanted "to do something like this, where we are really talking, rather than somebody talking at me for five seconds."

Cyrus and Keys will be replacing last season's coaches Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams, although it's likely the two stars will return for one or more future seasons.

Fans probably don't know what to expect from Cyrus next season, as she's been pretty unpredictable in recent years with her racy outfits, foam fingers and having sparked a twerking epidemic.

However, Cyrus is comfortable in her own skin and is herself at all times, no matter what others say or think about her, which is very refreshing. Cyrus is also undeniably talented musically and vocally.

The singer and former actress even admitted to Elle she's not interested in ever doing a red carpet appearance again.

"[A year ago] I had to do the [A Very Murray Christmas] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again. Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that's red? Because I'm 'important?' Because I'm 'famous?' That's not how I roll. It's like a skit -- it's like Zoolander," Cyrus explained.
