Actor Michael Douglas is starring in "The King of California," a new film from the producers of last year's hit, "Sideways."

Douglas will play an eccentric, manic-depressive father who complicates his daughter's teenage years with his obsession over a buried treasure in the San Fernando Valley, Daily Variety reported.
Shooting is expected to begin in February.
Douglas will next be seen on the big screen in "The Sentinel," which he recently finished filming with Kiefer Sutherland and Eva Longoria.
