UPI News Service, 05/01/2006

CBS soap star Jennifer Landon has done what her father, Michael Landon, was never able to do during his years in the industry -- win an Emmy.

The 22-year-old ingenue won a Daytime Emmy Friday night for best young soap actress after a year and a half as Gwen on "As the World Turns."

There wasn't a dry eye in Hollywood's Kodak Theater when she lifted the statue and said, "To my papa, thank you," the New York Post reported Monday.

Although Michael Landon starred in wildly popular series such as "Bonanza," "Little House on the Prairie" and "Highway to Heaven" -- he never even got as far as an Emmy nomination, the newspaper said.

Gwen was only seven when her dad died of pancreatic cancer in 1991. The two worked together on an episode of "Highway to Heaven" and "Us," the TV pilot that was made into a movie after his death.
