Daily Variety said early ratings of the show, which was created by "C.S.I." writer Josh Berman, since its premiere on Aug. 21 encouraged the network to order the additional episodes and represented a promising beginning to Fox's fall TV lineup.
Fox decided to launch "Vanished" and the rest of its fall lineup weeks before the TV season's official fall start of Sept. 18. And while the network has not guaranteed a full season of the new drama, the 20th Century Fox TV series will now have at least three more attempts to increase ratings, Variety said.
In addition to the early release of "Vanished," Fox has also aired early premieres of the reality series "Celebrity Duets" and the drama "Justice" and has three other TV series making their debuts this week, Variety said.
