Charlie Sheen gives Rob Lowe his blessing for 'Two and a Half Men'

UPI News Service, 03/09/2011

Charlie Sheen says he thinks Rob Lowe would make a good replacement for him on the U.S. sitcom "Two and a Half Men."

The show's producers fired recovering drug addict Sheen Monday after weeks of erratic behavior.

Although the future of the series is unclear, TMZ Tuesday quoted unnamed sources as saying show creator Chuck Lorre's representatives are exploring the option of producing "Men" without Sheen.

The entertainment news Web site said Lorre's camp and Warner Bros., the show's producers, have been talking to Lowe's agent about having the actor join the "Men" cast.

"He's a buddy of mine, he's a beautiful man, a brilliant actor, and I hope he does it and kicks its ass because I still get [paid]," UsMagazine.com said Sheen told Los Angeles radio station K-Earth 101 Wednesday.

Sheen also offered some advice for Lowe or anyone else who might replace him on "Men."

"Don't look at the 177 episodes I brilliantly did," Sheen said. "Just park those! Ignore the 400 reruns every week that you can't avoid. Cancel your Sheen app. I'd recommend, in all seriousness, that they make it their own."

Lowe, who, like Sheen, was a popular film actor in the 1980s, has most recently co-starred on the TV series "The West Wing," "Brothers & Sisters" and "Parks and Recreation."

Lowe also appeared with Sheen's brother, actor-director Emilio Estevez, in the films "The Outsiders" and "St. Elmo's Fire."
