Supernova -- comprised of Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke -- will let viewers narrow the field of hopefuls like INXS did in the first season of the summer hit, Daily Variety reported Thursday.
Once the field is cut to two, the group will choose its vocalist in the show's finale.
Supernova's first album will be produced by Butch Walker, who has worked with Lee as well as Avril Lavigne, Pink and Bowling for Soup.
