UPI News Service, 03/16/2006

"ABC World News Tonight" anchor Bob Woodruff left a Bethesda, Md., medical center Thursday to continue his recovery at a New York rehabilitation facility.

ABC News President David Westin described Woodruff as "up and about, regularly talking and joking ... watching the news," in a statement to ABC employees.

However, he cautioned Woodruff would still need "months of recuperation."

Woodruff, 44, was severely injured when a roadside bomb exploded in Iraq Jan. 29. Cameraman Doug Vogt was also severely injured but returned to France with his family last month.
