Talks were under way with Fox to broadcast the hit TV talent show in the United States in 2006.
The show will broadcast the finale of its second season Saturday as finalists Steve Brookstein and G4 compete for a $1.9 million contract with host Simon Cowell's recording company.
British bookmakers give Brookstein a slight edge in the competition.
