UPI News Service, 03/12/2010

The U.S. cable television network Bravo says its upcoming development slate includes a scripted series by "Sex and the City" producer Darren Star.

Inspired by the novel "I'm Not Myself These Days," the one-hour scripted musical drama follows Josh, who by day is "a straight, married, affluent power broker living in New York, but leads a double life as a drag queen at night," Bravo said.

Darren Star Productions is developing the series for Bravo, with Sri Rao and Emily Branden penning the script and Star attached as executive producer. No casting for the show has been announced.

"From successful brand extensions with several of our franchises, to our award-winning digital initiatives, not to mention the sheer volume of pop culture hits we produced, 2009 was a banner year for Bravo," Frances Berwick -- Bravo Media's executive vice president and general manager -- said in a statement Wednesday.

"The network reached a new level marrying creativity and innovation, and we'll continue that momentum in 2010 with even more original programming and new initiatives to connect and engage our viewers on every platform available."
