Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV are slated to produce the remake, with Rene Echevarria as writer and co-executive producer, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.
ABC has secured a "script deal with penalty" for the project, THR said. If it comes to fruition, it would mark Cameron's first foray into TV since his 2000 Fox drama "Dark Angel."
"True Lies" (1994) starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.
