Matt has defended Victoria against critics
During a recent appearance on The Bachelorette alums Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin's Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Matt discussed what he saw in Victoria and why he liked the controversial bachelorette.
The conversation began when Rachel said she believes Victoria was trying to be like The Bachelor's Season 21 villain Corinne Olympios but "failed miserably."
"If you're going to be a villain, you've got to be funny! Do you know what I'm saying?!" Rachel asked Matt.
"Victoria is hilarious!" Matt exclaimed.
"What? We haven't seen it yet," Rachel responded.
"Oh my gosh, Rachel, she is one of the wittiest people I have ever met!" Matt gushed.
"Really?!" Rachel asked in disbelief. "We haven't seen it, so that's a good scoop."
Matt explained, "Victoria, she is unapologetically herself, like, she's the quickest."
"You'll say something and she's got something [to say back] and then she's out," The Bachelor star elaborated. "And I'm like, 'What?! What did you just say?'"
Victoria has been in some trouble! Her criminal record isn't clean
Victoria was arrested in 2012 when she allegedly stole $250 worth of groceries and makeup from a Publix grocery store in Tallahassee, Florida, People reported.
Victoria was reportedly filmed on security footage placing 25 items into a reusable shopping bag inside her shopping cart. Once it became time for her to self check-out, Victoria didn't appear to pay for those items.
Victoria stayed in Leon County Jail for two days following her arrest and was released after posting $1,000 bail, E! News reported. Victoria later pleaded no contest in court to charges of petit theft and was ordered to six months of probation.
Shortly after news of her arrest surfaced, Victoria seemingly reacted to her mugshot -- which shows the bachelorette rocking platinum-blonde hair -- circulating on the Internet.
"Every saint has a past & every sinner has a future. John 8: 7," Victoria captioned a January 22 photo of herself posing at the beach in a white cardigan.
