The Cardiff, Wales, native only narrowly lost to fellow 18-year-old schoolgirl Alice Sinclair in the Monday finals in which Ellery remade herself into star-quality material.

"I've transformed so much over the past few weeks, from a duckling to a swan," Ellery said. "I would love to be the first Welsh supermodel in Britain."

Even Perou, a top photographer and harsh critic on the expert judging team, said Ellery "has gone from novice to professional in three weeks."

Ellery and Sinclair modeled lingerie while carrying a live snake in the finals.

Sinclair won the contract with Select Model Management and headed for a photo shoot in the Maldives.

Ellery likely will land her own modeling contract with a major agency, a source told the newspaper.
