Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott aren't afraid to talk about the current state of their marriage because things are apparently good between them.

"We're doing really well. You know, it's day by day and we're working really hard on our relationship. We're committed to each other as a family," Spelling told Extra in an interview.

The good news follows months of challenges and pain, as McDermott, 48, had cheated on the 41-year-old True Tori star back in December 2013 while away on a business trip to promote Chopped Canada for which he serves as host.

Since then, Spelling contemplated leaving her husband, while McDermott hit rock bottom and even considered taking his own life at one point. According to Extra, the couple's son Liam was in a Christmas play and that's why McDermott decided against suicide.

"That was a difficult time," Spelling said.

"Obviously the world knew that my husband had had an affair. What they didn't know was that he was suffering from depression. There was so much more than just the man that cheated on his wife. There was so much behind that. I think he's very brave for sharing that with people."

Spelling was also hospitalized recently with bronchitis. She noted that "people make up crazy stuff" because tabloids had reported she suffered Ebola-like symptoms.

The couple had previously confirmed McDermott will not be returning to True Tori but Spelling intends to continue on with the Lifetime reality series alone.
