The Amazing Race's producers are apparently attempting to launch a similar-sounding reality competition on ABC.

The network is currently developing Catch Me, which seems to feature some of the same action elements as CBS' Emmy-winning The Amazing Race, with Race producers Jerry Bruckheimer, Bertram van Munster and his wife Elise Doganieri, TheWrap.com reported Monday.

It is still unclear if ABC has already the tentatively-titled reality series given a series order or is only developing a pilot, according to TheWrap.com, which added neither Bruckheimer nor ABC immediately responded to a request for comment.

ABC has already begun casting for the show, according to casting information posted on the network's website.  Similar to The Amazing Race, the "heart-stopping reality competition" is seeking "dynamic teams of two"  that "have an adventurous streak and a good poker face" and lists "brothers, sisters, cousins, spouses, [and] best friends" as suggested teams.

However according to its casting application, Catch Me will feature teams from the same city competing in an "adventure" that will be based their own hometown -- which suggests that unlike The Amazing Race, the ABC project may utilize a standalone format and feature a new set of contestants competing in different city each episode.

According to ABC's casting information, Chicago is the focus of the current casting effort.

Warner Horizon TV is also involved in the project, TheWrap.com reported.

In addition to The Amazing Race, Bruckheimer and van Munster previously worked together on Profiles from the Front Line -- a combat-based reality series that documented the exploits of American forces in Afghanistan in 2002. The series aired briefly on ABC before it was canceled in March 2003.

The Amazing Race premiered on CBS in 2001 and is currently in the midst of its sixteenth season, which airs in the Sundays at 8PM ET/PT timeslot.

It remains the only show to win the Emmy for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program since the category was first created in 2002.
