According to Broadcasting & Cable, each one-hour Take My Ex episode would follow a recently divorced pair looking for new mates for each other and also include footage of their happily married days and the problems that led to the end of their romantic relationship.

"It explores relationships between couples and the fundamentals of a couple that has split up, what attracted them to each other in the first place and what other people find attractive about that relationship," Frances Berwick, executive vice president of programming and production for Bravo, told Broadcasting & Cable.  She also described Take My Ex as "a very new take on the whole concept of dating and relationships."

Take My Ex comes to Bravo from Sam Mettler, the creator and executive producer of A&E's Intervention docu-reality series.
