The streaming platform announced on Tuesday, January 6 that the revival of the hit talent competition series will feature artist Jelly Roll, TV personality and author Chrissy Teigen, and actress Sarah Michelle Gellar on the judging panel.

Actor Anthony Anderson will host Star Search when it premieres on Tuesday, January 20 on Netflix.

Star Search will air live on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9PM ET/PT over the course of five weeks.

Viewers will be able to vote in real time using their TV remote or by tapping the screen while watching the show on their Netflix mobile app.

"The talent is bigger, the stakes are higher and the format is more interactive than ever," Netflix has teased of the revival.

"Each episode will spotlight the best up-and-coming performers across numerous categories -- music, dance, variety, comedy, magic and juniors -- as they compete head to head for their shot at stardom."

The statement continued, "With an arced competition structure and weekly eliminations with real-time global voting, the series builds dramatic momentum, making every live episode an unmissable event."

The original Star Search premiered in 1983 and ran through 1995 with Ed McMahon as the host.

Star Search was revived, with comedian Arsenio Hall serving as its host, from January 2003 to March 2004 by CBS. Ben Stein, Naomi Judd and Ahmet Zappa starred on the show as judges.

A second revival was announced by ABC in 2010, and reports swirled that original American Idol judge Paula Abdul was in talks to be a judge; however, she reportedly rejected the network's offers, and the show was never produced.

Over the years, Star Search has launched some of the biggest names in the music industry -- including Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears.

Comedians Dave Chappelle and Adam Sandler also appeared on Star Search before becoming famous.

"The show that launched the greatest stars of our time is back," Anderson said in a teaser video for the upcoming Netflix revival. "The next great star will be discovered."

Jesse Collins Entertainment, who has produced award shows and Super Bowls, is behind the return of Star Search.

Executive producers include Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, Madison Merritt, and Elaine Metaxas.
