'This adventurous new series will take the increasingly popular extreme sports genre to the next level,' said Jeff Gaspin, Executive Vice President, Alternative Series, Longform and Program Strategy. '“NBC will offer a rare primetime showcase and will bring viewers even closer up to these breathtaking competitions.'

'Adrenaline X' will pit the world's best extreme sports personalities against each other as they compete in high-risk stunts where the jeopardy is real. In each episode, athletes will face off in three challenges encompassing all the demands of a single extreme sport that will push the athletes to the limit -- and then perhaps one step further. All of the events will be set against the backdrop of some of the world’s most scenic locations.

Viewers will experience all the action and thrill of the challenges as they witness the competition first-hand through the use of heart-rate monitors, helmet cameras and body microphones. 'Adrenaline X' will showcase the colorful characters who dare to push their sport beyond the bounds and will uncover what drives them, their backgrounds, and the sacrifices they make to compete in the burgeoning world of extreme sports.

'Working with TGR, the home of the best filmmakers in the adventure sports world, we are capturing the unique story telling and intense action that takes place in the competitive world of extreme sports and bringing it to television,' said Ben Silverman, CEO of Reveille LLC. 'The success of this year's winter Olympics on NBC proved that the audience for extreme sports has grown, delivering valuable demos and forging its way into the mainstream.'

"'Adrenaline X' is the future of extreme sports and reality television. This will be the world's newest and greatest athletes competing against each other giving viewers the inside look at the guts and glory of extreme sports," said Todd Jones, Co-Head of Production for TGR. 'NBC's reality television juggernaut is dominant because they consistently take their viewers into intense and compelling situations. "'Adrenaline X' will deliver for that audience in ways they never imagined." said Mary Dickinson, CEO of TGR.

The program will be produced under a production agreement with Reveille LLC (an independent studio within Vivendi Universal Entertainment), Teton Gravity Research and NBC Studios. The announcement was made today by Jeff Gaspin, Executive Vice President, Alternative Series, Longform and Program Strategy.
