Married at First Sight star Zach Justice has denied he only continued his marriage to Mindy Shiben because he didn't want to be the one to end it and was waiting for Mindy to get frustrated enough to pull the plug instead.

During the April 1 broadcast of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, Zach watched back a Season 10 clip of Mindy confronting Zach about lying to her before ending their marriage for good.

Zach got wind of the fact Mindy's ex-boyfriend wanted to pick her up at the airport following her honeymoon in Panama, but Zach told Mindy he had heard the information from a random guest at their wedding who happened to be friends with Mindy's ex.

However, Mindy's supposed best friend Lindsay was the one who shared this tidbit with Zach when the pair were building a friendship on the phone behind Mindy's back, and Zach clearly lied to protect Lindsay.

"It's tough [watching that back], and I think what made it tough in that specific moment was knowing where we were going in a sense," Zach explained. "Things were getting much better between us."

Unfiltered host Jamie Otis then asked, "Were you just waiting for her to get so fed up that she broke up with you rather than you break up with her and you just didn't want to be the guy to break it off?"

"I mean, there are moments when I look back and feel like there's a lot of self-sabotage there, but in the moment, I don't think that," Zach replied.

"I think just being stubborn and not wanting to just throw in the towel was just not an option."

Married at First Sight expert Dr. Viviana Coles joined Zach on the Unfiltered broadcast and asked for clarification on why Zach would view it as "throwing in the towel" when he clearly felt no connection with her from the start.

"I get the both of you wanted to make the most of this experience, but that's not what this is about," Viviana said.

Jamie agreed with Viviana and snapped at Zach, "That's the thing. Mindy was in it not for the experience, she was in it for marriage."

"Right," Zach quietly conceded.

Zach and Mindy's relationship was caught in a downward spiral ever since their honeymoon in Panama when Zach admitted to his wife on several occasions he wasn't attracted to her and they lacked intangible chemistry.

Mindy never gave up on her marriage despite her bruised ego, but Zach threw his walls up and kept his distance from his wife. He even refused to move in with Mindy in an apartment Married at First Sight had provided for them in Washington, D.C.

After catching Zach with secrets and growing tired of being the only one to put effort into their relationship, Mindy decided to end her marriage to Zach once and for all in last week's episode of Married at First Sight.

"I told myself I was only going to let myself be disappointed like that one more time and that's it, so I can't subject myself to that. I'm sorry to say but I don't want to be in this marriage anymore," Mindy told Zach.

"I don't know what to say. I feel like I have a lot to say but I don't know what to say," Zach replied.

"I feel with the lack of transparency, it put you in a position where you had to make this decision, but I don't think I expected it."

Mindy said she wanted to make her marriage work so badly that she would have been willing to do pretty much anything.

"But what I've learned is no matter how much I wanted it, a marriage is not about one person and my husband did not show up to be any kind of decent partner," Mindy griped.

Zach and Mindy were not even featured in the latest Married at First Sight episode on Wednesday night given their marriage was already over. Mindy called it quits on their relationship with about two weeks left until "Decision Day."

Married at First Sight also stars Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd, Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman, Meka Jones and Michael Watson, and Taylor Dunklin and Brandon Reid.
