While the pair has been shown getting along, their communication skills need work and they both have different love languages. Cameron desires physical touch, while Clare wants her man to be verbally expressive and open.

During the December 13 episode of Married at First Sight: Afterparty, Clare watched back a Season 17 clip of her house-party preparations with Cameron.

In the clip, Clare asks Cameron why his buddy decided not to come to their party.

"I had a couple of friends coming, but they're just tied up getting ready for their trip, and they can't make it," Cameron responds.

"I'm going to order the food. Oh, this doesn't let you select a time."

Clare suggests Cameron should "wait to order it then," but it was too late. When Clare discovered Cameron had already placed the order for hours before their guests were set to arrive, appeared annoyed and upset.

"She seemed quite stressed, and I don't think it's about food," Cameron admits to the cameras.

On Afterparty, host Keshia Knight Pulliam asked Clare what she was so nervous about in that moment.

"I think it's just -- first of all, just the fact that none of his friends are wanting to meet me. It's making me a little upset," Clare confessed.

"He's right, it wasn't about the food. Like, where are your people? You are closing me out!"

Clare said that's what it felt like to her, even if that wasn't the case.

Keshia asked Clare if she and Cameron had made a guest list, and Clare explained, "It's actually a funny backstory because one of his friends and one of my cousins actually met and went on a date. And so they were both going to come."

Clare recalled Cameron assuring her, "He's going to come. He's going to come."

"And then the day of," Clare continued, "[Cameron] goes, 'Yeah, sorry, he can't make it.'"

Clare's cousin also backed out of the party, and Clare revealed that that romance ended quickly.

"Moral of the story is just the fact that he's not putting any effort into making me feel like I'm welcome," Clare concluded.

"I wish that I would've been just, like, 'This is why I'm so upset.' Cameron is somebody whom you need to talk about things very directly. There are no non-verbals that you can show him to have him understand."

Clare's attraction to Cameron grew when she saw him in his element, working at his bicycle repair shop, but the housewarming party appeared to set the couple back.

Clare complained that Cameron was very unprepared for guests, and then he dropped a bombshell on her -- and in front of her closest friends -- that his father had no idea he had married a stranger and that he was on his deathbed.

"It's really strange to me he's bringing up really heavy things in front of people when he won't even do that with me in private. I'm just really confused, honestly. I feel like he doesn't trust me enough to tell me," Clare noted in a confessional.

The revelation threw Clare for a loop, and she didn't like how she felt so separated from his family.

Cameron, in turn, admitted he tended to be standoffish with Clare but he was working on it.

Cameron told Clare's pals that he really liked Clare and she's the smartest girl he had ever been in a relationship with; however, Cameron thought he was bearing more of an "emotional struggle" in his marriage and felt like he was "sinking."

Cameron was referring to how he doesn't want to raise his kids with religious beliefs, but Clare is a woman of faith.

Clare shared with her friends how there was mutual respect in her marriage and she was impressed by Cameron, but she wasn't sure if that was "enough" to result in a lifelong marriage.

Clare's friends ultimately wondered if Cameron was going to be forthcoming about his feelings with Clare. They hoped he'd be enough for their friend in the long run.

Married at First Sight's seventeenth season also stars Emily and Brennan, Becca and Austin, and Lauren and Orion, who had decided to divorce shortly after their honeymoon in Mexico.
