Chris, a 29-year-old musician, personal trainer and youth counselor from Binghamton, NY, and Jada, a 27-year-old professional nanny placement specialist and brand spokesperson from San Antonio, TX, left Married at First Sight: Honeymoon Island dating in Summer 2018.

Although they did not commit to each other with an engagement like the other two couples who left the show together, Chris did offer Jada a "commitment ring," and both individuals promised to put their best effort into making their love last in the real world.

However, Chris provided fans with an unfortunate relationship update via Instagram on Wednesday.

"I had such an amazing experience on the island with this beautiful woman. Not only did we have a connection, but we built a bond that nobody can EVER break and I'm so thankful for that... After leaving the island and committing to one another Jada and I communicated CONSISTENTLY, and took every opportunity to grow together," Chris captioned a photo of the couple as well as one of his young daughter.

"I was even blessed enough to spend Thanksgiving with her and her family in Texas. Her dad has to be one of the coolest guys I've ever met, and her mom is so loving.️ I can see where Jada gets her dope soul from... But after putting in effort and continuing to grow in our relationship Jada and I decided to remain friends."

Chris admitted he and Jada had "a better friendship as opposed to a romantic connection."

"This doesn't change the love that I will always have for her. This experience on Married At First Sight: Honeymoon Island has changed me. I've grown so much as a man, and learned so much about myself. My main focus right now is being the best DAD I can be, and making sure my daughter Bella blossoms into the beautiful flower she is," Chris continued.

"No need to rush love, I know God will send the right one for me when the timing is right. I'm truly blessed that Bella will be able to see my journey with Jada as she grows up. These memories will be here forever! Well I guess that's obvious seeing how we were filmed on national television! Lol."

Chris went on to thank all of his supporters for their "genuine love" throughout his journey on the Lifetime reality series.

"This may not be the ending you wanted, but truthfully this is not an ENDING at all. Jada has me in her life as a friend forever. One day we'll be old and wrinkly and she will be calling to roast me about how scared I was on the air tram lol."

Chris then told Jada he will be there for her if she ever needs anything in life or "just somebody to drink coffee with and talk about life."

"Thank you...For everything...Until next time," Chris concluded, before adding the following hashtags to his post: #HappyNewYear #NewBeginnings #chrisgqperry #teamjadachris #mafslifetime #mafshoneymoonisland #marriedatfirstsight #lifetimetv #kineticcontent #honeymoonisland."

During the December finale of Married at First Sight: Honeymoon Island, Jada told Chris that she was "falling in love with" him when it became time for the couple to decide whether they wanted to stay together, get engaged, or part ways.

Chris told Jada that her presence made him feel warm and vulnerable. He came to the island and found exactly what he was looking for in Jada, but then Chris confessed he was worried about being able to make things work outside of the show and in real life.

"But I want to at least try... I'm so glad I met a beautiful black queen, and there's no better choice for me. You are everything I want in a woman and I am in love with you," Chris told her, before giving Jada the promise ring.

Knowing Chris wanted to continue their romance outside of the show, Jada said she was so glad to have found a relationshipe rooted in God and in love, and she expressed how thankful she was to have joined the cast of Honeymoon Island.

Based on hints Married at First Sight experts -- Dr. Jessica Griffin and Pastor Calvin Roberson -- dropped on social media last year, it appears the Honeymoon Island spinoff began filming in early August 2018, so Jada and Chris' relationship lasted about four to five months.
