Chris Harrison says former fifteenth-season The Bachelor star Brad Womack was still too emotional to publicly discuss his split from Emily Maynard in a sit-down interview set to air during next Monday night's episode of The Bachelorette.

"Many have asked why we only sat down with Emily and not Brad. I talked to Brad several times leading up to this interview and have talked to him since. While he gave his blessing for Emily to speak on their behalf, his emotions are still just too raw and he wasn't ready to speak openly about it all yet," the host wrote on his Entertainment Weekly blog about his interview with Maynard in which she "broke her silence" and talked about the demise of her relationship with Womack.

"I respect that decision and told him I was extremely sorry we had to do this interview at all."

Life & Style reported in June that Maynard, a 25-year-old Charlotte, NC resident, had confirmed she and Womack -- who got engaged during ABC's March broadcast of The Bachelor's fifteenth-season finale -- had ended their relationship for good and told a reporter "it was over" and there was "nothing going on between [them] anymore."

However, Maynard subsequently appeared to deny making the comments -- but not a split from the 38-year-old Austin, TX bar owner -- when addressing a fan's question about the Life & Style report on her Facebook fan page.

Maynard's alleged comments followed several months of reports that the couple's relationship had been on the rocks -- dating back to ABC's March broadcast of The Bachelor's After The Final Rose special in which the couple admitted they had already broken up multiple times during the network's broadcast of the season, which had been filmed last fall.
