Bachelor in Paradise star Jeremy Simon has reacted to backlash over how he lied to Bailey Taylor Brown by omission.

"Watching the past few weeks back has been tough," Jeremy began in an August 13 statement via Instagram.

On Bachelor in Paradise's latest Season 10 episode, Brian Autz let Bailey know that Jeremy had said he regretted not giving Susie Evans his rose.

Not only did Brian tell Bailey that Jeremy had called Susie on the phone and begged for her to return to Paradise, but he also dropped the bombshell that Jeremy had said he'd propose to Susie on the spot if she ever came back.

When Bailey confronted Jeremy about Brian's claims, Jeremy insisted he no longer had feelings for Susie and that he never said he'd propose to Susie if they reunited.

However, Bachelor in Paradise footage of Jeremy pining for Susie has shown viewers everything they need to know, and Bachelor Nation has been furious at Jeremy for seemingly playing Bailey and keeping her around so they can win $500,000.

Jeremy continued in his Instagram post, "A lot of what's aired doesn't show the full story: the small, meaningful moments, or important conversations that brought Bailey and I closer."

"Our relationship grew so much beyond the 0.1% of what's shown on TV," he added, "but unfortunately so much of the focus has been on a small part of what we actually experienced in Paradise."

Jeremy acknowledged, however, that his time on the beach "wasn't perfect."

"There were many ups and downs, and I'll own the mistakes I made," Jeremy wrote.

"At the end of the day, only Bailey and I know the reality of what we went through and I hope people can respect that," he concluded.

Jeremy's statement accompanied a carousel of images from his time with Bailey in Paradise, including their special one-on-one date in which they watched a fireworks display.

Jeremy's message to the world clearly wasn't enough of an apology, based on fans' comments on the post.

"May a love like this never find me!" one person commented.

"But you weren't honest with her," argued another Instagram user. "You said to Bailey that you never said that you'd 'propose to Susie on the spot,' but there is literally footage of you saying that."

A third person wrote, "It's the 'I'll own my mistakes' when you literally didn't until Brian made you & then you got mad at him??"

And one critic took an opportunity to rip Jeremy to pieces.

"Regardless of what was shown of your relationship with Bailey, your words and actions regarding Susie were clear and did not leave room for confusion or misunderstanding," the Bachelor in Paradise fan wrote.

"If you had any integrity you would have left at that time, given how you felt. But even then, having decided to stay and continue with Bailey, the very least you owed her was the full account of your behavior."

The person added, "And, as an aside, going back to bed after she left your room in tears and so torn up was disgusting and told the tale of what type of 'man' you are."

While Jeremy has been receiving hate, Bailey has been sticking up for him in her recent interviews.

Although Bailey admitted it's been "really hard" and "horrible" to watch Bachelor in Paradise's tenth season play out on TV, she never really criticized Jeremy's behavior.

"I do feel like there were moments when we had a lot of open and honest communication," Bailey claimed during a recent appearance on "The Viall Files" podcast.

"I can't speak to where his [mindset] was or where his head was at, obviously, but of course, I wish I would've been told about the phone call immediately. I wish that my friends would've told me about the phone call."

Bailey even said she wouldn't have dumped Jeremy had he been honest about his strong and lingering feelings for Susie following her elimination.

"In the moment, I wish definitely that I would've known he was having these feelings of doubt," Bailey told Nick Viall on his podacast.

"I don't necessarily know that they would've, like, changed how our relationship progressed. I feel like we would've progressed the same way."

Andrew Spencer stood up for Jeremy on "The Viall Files" saying that Brian had suspicious timing and was never even friends with Bailey.

Andrew had therefore come to the conclusion that Brian was "sleazy" and didn't talk to Bailey "in good faith."

But on the other side of the coin, Andrew pointed out that the most of the cast -- who had knowledge of Jeremy and Susie's phone call -- had no idea about the extent in which Jeremy was missing Susie.

Many of Jeremy's comments about Susie apparently shocked Andrew watching the show back this summer.

"I didn't know he was saying that to Brian, and I never knew he was saying anything about Susie since that," Andrew noted.

For Brian's part, he said he doesn't regret telling Bailey, even though the whole situation put a big target on his back.
