Michael and Danielle enjoyed a fancy evening out on December 31, and Danielle posted an Instagram video that captured a montage of sweet moments from their New Year's Eve bash in Chicago, IL, with Danielle's friends.
"Last NYE looked so different... not the hangover -- that was the same, but I was sitting with the New Year Scaries, scribbling down everything I wanted to call in. Everything I was scared of and eternally hopeful for," Danielle captioned the video earlier this week, which also appears on Michael's account.
"This year I'm waking up more in love with the man I went to bed laughing with. From here on out I may ask @michael_alliol4 if we can celebrate in Shkago... at the @21chotelchicago every year."
Danielle went on to write, "I can't explain it."
"People will tell you all sorts of opinions or stories of timing or healing and the truth is it's all a work in progress and you just don't know when things are going to happen... when opportunities arise that can change your world," the neonatal nurse continued.
Danielle said while everyone needs "some control" in their lives, she's "learned" something big.
"If I have learned anything -- it's that the unknown is crazy and intimidating and uncomfortable but there is also magic," Danielle concluded.
"I think I can speak for Michael here, but we hope you find ways to rekindle yours this year."
In a separate post from this past New Year's weekend, Danielle posted photos with Michael, including images of them flirting, embracing and kissing.
"Happy New Year and happy hydration to all who participated. Worth the Hangover," Danielle wrote alongside the pictures. "PS -- Sheer dresses are the new ripped jeans for parentals."
For his part, Michael uploaded a slideshow of photos with Danielle from their night out at Soho House Chicago.
Michael, who wore a black suit, wrote in the caption of his post, "Somethings just get better with age. Happy NEW YEAR."
And he added of his girlfriend, "Ps -- she's cute. Edit: she's [fire emoji]."
Prior to New Year's Eve, Danielle told BachelorNation.com that she and Michael spent Christmas with his family in Akron, OH, before heading to Wisconsin to enjoy Christmas with her family.
"Michael and I really want to travel together and spend time making actual memories. So we are starting our travel fund," Danielle shared when asked about a gift exchange. "But I got a little something for him. I think he'll get a bigger kick out of what I made for James for Christmas."
On Bachelor in Paradise last summer, Michael was romantically interested in Sierra Jackson, but he ultimately determined something was "missing" between them and he was unable to let his walls down for her following the 2019 death of his wife, Laura Ritter-Allio, from breast cancer.
But when Danielle -- who lost her fiance Nick Haag to a drug overdose in 2011 -- stepped foot on the Paradise beach in Mexico, Michael seemed ecstatic and affectionately called her "Dani." They had spoken via DMs on Instagram and become friends prior to filming the show but claimed they had never met in person.
Michael and Danielle were able to connect quickly over their similar losses and traumas. The pair slowly got to know each other and never expressed interest in dating anyone else on the show.
Michael and Danielle chose to leave Bachelor in Paradise together as a couple before overnight Fantasy Suites. They both determined they weren't ready to get engaged, especially because Danielle had yet to Michael's young son James.
However, Michael revealed on the reunion show in November that James loves Danielle and never wants her to leave when she's visiting. Danielle also confirmed she adores the little boy and can't wait to be a bigger part of his life.
Michael also announced on the reunion show that he's "in love" with Danielle and she has changed his life for the better. Danielle is only the second woman whom Michael has ever said, "I love you," to.
Danielle shared how she was planning to move to Ohio, where Michael and James live, in order to progress their relationship naturally. However, she noted they aren't going to live under the same roof.
And in early December, Michael said Danielle would be leaving Nashville, TN, and making the move in two or three months.
"Maybe she'll live in Cleveland so James and I will have a little city spot we can go to on the weekends," Michael said in an Instagram Q&A.
"I'm just so excited. Long distance is difficult, but we've made the best of it and this next chapter and upcoming year is one I am so looking forward to. She's the best!"
