New American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres has apparently inspired Kara DioGuardi to try her hand at hosting a talk show.

ABC has announced DioGuardi will serve as a guest co-host filling in for The View regular and former Survivor: The Australian Outback castaway Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is currently on maternity leave after giving birth to her third child last month.

DioGuardi will serve as a guest co-host during The View's October 15 broadcast.

The American Idol judge made her first The View appearance in May, and she discussed the sexuality of eighth-season runner-up Adam Lambert before he officially came out of the closet in June.

"I don't think that Adam was ever 'in' so I'm not... you know, I think he was always openly out," DioGardi told The View host Barbara Walters during the May appearance.

"I think he was, from what I've seen in various forms of things.  I do. I never thought he looked like he wasn't [out]," DioGuardi told Walters when she asked if DioGuardi really thought Lambert had always been "openly out."

During her upcoming The View appearance, ABC claimed DioGuardi will "surely" discuss Idol adding DeGeneres as a judge earlier this month as a replacement for Paula Abdul.

Additional co-hosts who will be filling in for Hasselbeck while she's on maternity leave include Fox News anchor E.D. Hill on September 23 and 24; singer Gloria Estefan on September 29; former The View co-host Lisa Ling on October 5 and 6; Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz on October 8th; and The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco on October 13.
