'Top Model' host Tyra Banks blames media for Naomi Campbell feud

Talk show host Tyra Banks says one of the reasons she quit modeling was to escape the shadow of supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Banks said Campbell was her role model as a teen, but when she entered the fashion arena, the media created a feud between the two African-Americans, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
The women come face to face Friday on "The Tyra Banks Show," a syndicated talk show, to clear the air about their alleged 14-year feud.
"The press had cast Naomi and I as rivals before we ever met each other," Banks said.
Banks said she invited her rival to appear on her show as an example to other women.
"One of the reasons I wanted to do this show is because sisterhood is so important to me," she told the Daily News. "I feel like women hate on each other -- we're jealous -- and it has to stop."
