A "Top Gun" sequel is being developed by Hollywood's Paramount Pictures, New York magazine reported.

The studio has made offers to producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott, who collaborated on the original 1986 aviation action flick.
Tom Cruise, star of the first film, is expected to reprise his role of brash flying ace Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, but it would be a smaller role, the magazine said.
Paramount reportedly is also courting "The Usual Suspects" scribe Christopher McQuarrie to write the screenplay for "Top Gun 2."
