'The Glass House' viewers vote to eliminate contestant Alex from the house

The Glass House eliminated Alex during ABC's Monday night broadcast of the new Big Brother-like reality competition's second episode.

Alex had been placed in "limbo" and nominated for elimination alongside fellow The Glass House contestant Jacob by the rest of the competition's contestants during last week's premiere.

Viewers were then supposed to vote and decide which male contestant would return to the house and which of the two men would be eliminated from the competition.

However, Jacob chose to quit the show shortly after he was placed in "limbo" -- leaving viewers to instead decide whether Alex would get to return to the house and resume competing or be eliminated.

Much to Alex's surprise, viewers decided to eliminate him.

"Alex's face going down that tube was incredibly gratifying. I mean, the guy took a gamble and it backfired," Erica said once the players saw Alex's rejection.

Alex had quickly become the villain in the house and voted into limbo by nearly the entire cast during last week's episode. Jacob had automatically been placed in limbo because he was the captain of the team that lost the competition's first challenge.

During Monday night's broadcast, the house's big screen revealed which two players had received the least number of home viewer votes since the show first premiered, meaning those two contestants were the fans' least favorite players in the game thus far. Apollo and Ashley were announced as the individuals, and as a result, they were forced to be team captains for the week's challenge and would be sent to "limbo" if their team lost.

The season's second challenge had required each team to transfer eggs through the air from a nest to a series of birdhouses while three players hung from three whirly-birds which were controlled with large strings by two teammates on the floor. The team to get one egg into each birdhouse by breaking its glass roof in the fastest time would win the challenge and be safe from "limbo" nominations.

However, every birdhouse had a "burden" written on it that viewers selected for The Glass House players to complete. For the winning team only, if an egg with someone's name on it landed in a particular birdhouse, he or she would have to read the instructions and then "suffer the consequences or reap the benefits." The prize happened to be $1,000, while some of the "burdens" including tasks such as blowing up 500 balloons or peeling 200 boiled eggs.

Apollo's team finished the challenge in five minutes and 54 seconds, while Ashley's team completed the task in three minutes and 48 seconds. Apollo was automatically placed in "limbo" and put up for elimination once his team was defeated, and then all of the season's contestants proceeded to nominate Holly to join him -- meanwhile, Holly voted for Erica. Viewers will now get to determine whether they'd like to see Holly or Apollo return to the game.
