Sean "Diddy" Combs is reportedly being considered to serve as a judge on American Idol's upcoming season.

Fox producers have contacted the rapper and Bad Boy Records founder to fill one of the two remaining spots on Idol's twelfth-season judging panel, The New York Post reported.

Mariah Carey formally signed on as a new judge late last month following the announcements that former American Idol judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez won't be returning.

Carey is the only official member of the newly-revamped judging panel as of yet. Whether Randy Jackson will return to the show and resume his judging role is still in question.

Nick Jonas recently verified he's been in talks to be a judge on the reality singing competition's next season. Around the same time, reports surfaced that singer Pharrell Williams was also close to inking an Idol deal.

Fox reportedly declined comment on Combs' alleged involvement, while Combs' representative did as well.
