Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams are reportedly close to inking deals to judge American Idol's twelfth season alongside newly-confirmed judge Mariah Carey.

While Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez recently announced they won't be returning to Idol's judging panel next season and a Randy Jackson's spot will reportedly also be vacant because he's taking on a new mentoring role instead, Jonas and Williams are in talks to come onboard and replace them, Us Weekly reported.

"Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge," a source told Us. "They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings."

The 19-year-old "Who I Am" singer is reportedly under consideration because he's available after wrapping up his four-month commitment to Broadway's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying show and, according to another source, "[Idol producers] think he can help bring that younger demo to the show."

Williams, a 39-year-old rapper and successful music producer, may also be on his way to inking a contract with American Idol after producing hit albums for stars such as Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani.

"Everything is looking good, but they're still working out details," a third source told Us in reference to Williams' involvement.

A Fox representative reportedly declined comment on the matter.
