Russell Brand files for divorce from wife Katy Perry after 14 months

Russell Brand has filed for divorce in Los Angeles from Katy Perry, court records indicate.

The British comedian and American pop star were married a little more than a year and have no children.

Brand cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for the split, TMZ reported Friday.

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," he said in a statement issued to People.com.

"I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."
