They may be disappearing from the fall schedules, but reality shows are still atop the ratings. According to the Associated Press, five of the top 10 shows during the 2002-03 TV season were reality shows.

Ranked second for the season was Fox's Joe Millionaire. Also in the top 10 were CBS's Survivor: Thailand and Survivor: The Amazon, which count as separate shows because they had different casts, and Fox's American Idol: Tuesday and American Idol: Wednesday, which count as separate shows because they're in different time slots.

The top three scripted shows, like Survivor, all air on Thursday night: CBS's CSI, which follows Survivor and is the top-rated show on TV, and NBC's Friends and ER, which are the two most expensive shows to produce on TV -- perhaps because NBC relies on them so heavily to limit the ongoing Survivor juggernaut.
