Miley Cyrus: I don't think I've missed out on a normal childhood

UPI News Service, 06/18/2010

U.S. teen pop superstar Miley Cyrus says she doesn't think she missed out on a normal childhood because she's spent most of her life in the spotlight.

"I don't think I've missed out on anything, but I think it is hard, you know, with comments and growing up," Cyrus, 17, said on Thursday's edition of "Late Show with David Letterman" on CBS.

"It is tough," Letterman concurred. "It's the kind of thing that's so hard that maybe only a 17-year-old could do it, really."

"But you did it," Cyrus joked, during her first "Late Show" appearance. "See, there's just a handful of people that have -- you know, and you're one of them."

Letterman laughed, "Yeah, you and I are probably -- that's it, you and me."

"The two 17-year-old girls that made it, me and you, so," Cyrus said.

"That's right," Letterman quipped. "All the 17-year-old girls really look up to us, don't they?"

"They really do," Cyrus said, "It's an honor to be where we are, so thank you."
