Makers of a reality show based on men competing to be a woman's sperm donor are shopping the concept to U.S. broadcasters.

Male contestants in the show will vie for the opportunity to impregnate a woman, the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday. Parenting the offspring is not part of the program, co-developed Endemol's True Entertainment and Brighter Pictures studios.

When those entities previously tried to shop the show, which they are calling "Make Me a Mum," to European broadcasters all they got was disgust.

Ethicist Josephine Quintavalle put it all in perspective for the British trade newspaper Broadcast: "The end result of this titillation of the public is a child."

Now the head of True Entertainment is apparently plugging the show in the United States as an expression of feminist values.

"We think this show is ... empowering choice in women's lives," said Steven Weinstock.
