Ladbrokes said the 33 men rescued after spending 69 days underground are currently considered the most likely to pick up the prestigious position, with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg close behind with a 5/1 shot at the magazine cover.
The London-based gambling organization said other likely candidates for "Person of the Year" with 6/1 chances include Chinese leader Hu Jintao, Comedy Central hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and biologist J. Craig Venter, one of the first to sequence the human genome and creator of the first cell with a synthetic genome.
Other possibilities cited by Ladbrokes include Fox News host Glenn Beck (10/1), politician-turned-pundit Sarah Palin (10/1), Apple founder Steve Jobs (12/1), British Prime Minister David Cameron (25/1), U.S. President Barack Obama (33/1), singer Lady Gaga (50/1) and NBA star LeBron James (50/1).
