Actress Angelina Jolie gave birth Saturday to a daughter named Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt in the country of Namibia, In Touch Weekly reports.

Jolie and Brad Pitt, accompanied by her two adopted children, had traveled to the Burning Shores Resort for the birth. Jolie had a Caesarean section.

Her pregnancy had aroused intense interest within the entertainment press -- particularly among tabloids and paparazzi.

Pitt and Jolie met in 2004 while they were making "Mr. And Mrs. Smith." Jolie had previously said that she planned to adopt a lot of children but would never have one of her own.

"Now, I want lots of babies," she said. "I'd love to adopt just a bunch more kids, have a few."

The couple remain unmarried. Jolie, daughter of actor Jon Voight, has been married to Jonny Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Pitt was divorced from Jennifer Anniston last year.
