Black Gold's second season will focus on the roughnecks of "Rig 28," who have 50 days to try to save the lease on a very valuable piece of land before it expires.

Saving the lease will require the rig's crews -- who were assembled by Autry Stephens, the same oilman  that funded the "Big Dog" oil rig in Black Gold's first season -- to drill four "back-breaking" holes

"It's never been done before," said Michael Patrick "Rooster" McConaughey, a pipe salesman -- and the brother of actor Michael McConaughey -- who will return for the show's second season.

In addition Stephens and McConaughey, Black Gold's second-season cast will also include day time driller Pee Wee, evening crew chief Ron, relief crew driller Oscar, and first-season driller Gerald.

Black Gold premiered in June 2008 as part of truTV's re-branding effort intended to reflect the network's decision to re-focus its primetime programming lineup on "emphasizing real-life stories."

Black Gold is produced by Original Productions, the same production company behind Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch and History's Ice Road Truckers reality series.
