Mike White has revealed he'd hoped to align with his former Survivor Season 37 castmates Christian Hubicki and Angelina Keeley and create a special The White Lotus alliance while competing on Survivor 50.

The trio remained friends after their first Survivor stint, and Mike even invited Angelina and Christian to make cameos on his popular HBO television show The White Lotus.
And so Mike was apparently banking on using those friendships to his advantage on Survivor's milestone season.
Mike -- who had finished as the runner-up on Survivor: David vs. Goliath -- told People before filming began that he "hopes" his David vs. Goliath castmates "want to play with me."
While on location in Fiji for Survivor 50, Mike explained, "I did vote Christian out, and we've obviously stayed friends, but there's your Survivor relationship, and then there's your out of the game relationship."
But Mike insisted that he didn't talk strategy with Angelina and Christian before the game commenced.
"I have a feeling there's a lot of pre-gaming that's gone on, and I haven't participated in it," Mike said. "We'll see if that is a benefit or a hindrance."
Mike suggested he was ready to be cutthroat on Survivor if anyone tried to ruin his good time.
"I'm going to probably be the vibe police," the filmmaker quipped. "Like, this is my vacation. If you're going to be too aggro and you're going to be annoying or whatever, you've got to go."
Mike acknowledged there will be "real friendships" on Survivor 50 that will be put to the test.
"And maybe they'll put a target on my back," he said. "I want to play with [Christian and Angelina], but I'm not going to go down with that ship. I am going to play my own game."

After finishing Survivor: David vs. Goliath in third place, Angelina appeared in two episodes of The White Lotus' second season, which was taped in Italy.
And Christian, who placed seventh on his first Survivor season, had his moment in the sun on Season 3 of The White Lotus, which was shot in Thailand.
Angelina called her The White Lotus cameo "a gift" when speaking to the magazine, and she noted that she was "very excited" to reunite with Mike and Christian.
Angelina called Mike a "dear friend," and recalled of their time on Survivor together, "My first time around, we played Day 1 to 39 together, on all the same tribe swaps. And we just formed a really close relationship and have carried it through."
Angelina said while she wanted to work with Christian, she also recognized the robotics professor could get in her way of winning $1 million.
"Look, Christian is still as big a threat as ever. There's a reason I was targeting him at the merge on [David vs. Goliath] -- because he's just an incredible person," Angelina said.
"He's just a delight; you could talk to him forever. And they don't make him like Christian. He's just one of a kind."

Christian gave The White Lotus creator credit for being a "master storyteller," and he added, "[Mike] said, 'Christian is the ultimate David. If you let him get to the end, he will slay Goliath and win.' Very simple story. Everyone bought it."
Christian went on to recall, "Everyone then immediately started voting for me because he controlled the story."
Christian told the magazine that he would "work with" Mike on Season 50.

"I just don't trust that he will lay down his life in the game for me to win," Christian noted.
Christian had even voted for Mike to win their original Survivor season.
