NBC has announced it is expanding next week's premiere of The Voice's third season to three nights -- a move that will put the reality singing competition's third episode directly up against Fox's Wednesday night premiere of the second season of The X Factor.

In addition to its previously scheduled two-hour premiere on Monday, September 10 at 8PM ET/PT, The Voice -- which will air regularly on Mondays and Tuesdays this fall -- was already scheduled to air a second hour-long episode on Tuesday, September 11 at 8PM ET/PT.

However, on Wednesday, NBC announced it is turning the debut of the third season on The Voice -- which will be the first season of the show to air during the fall -- into "a three-night audition event" and will broadcast an hour-long third episode of the singing competition on Wednesday, September 12 at 8PM ET/PT.

The X Factor's second season premiere -- which will feature the debut of new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato -- will also air September 12 with a two-hour broadcast beginning 8PM ET/PT on Fox.

Similar to The Voice's premiere, The X Factor's second season -- which will air regularly on Wednesdays and Thursdays this fall -- will be  a "two-night season premiere event" that will continue with a second hour-long episode on Thursday, September 13 at 8PM ET/PT.
