While cooking a surf-and-turf dinner and celebrating, Travis whisked Gina to the back porch, saying he wanted to "scope out the right spot for a family picture."
Little did Gina know, her boyfriend was about to get down on one knee with a six-carat, oval-cut diamond ring in yellow gold. The center stone was flanked by smaller round diamonds, three on each side, to represent the couple's blended family of six children.
"I was in complete shock!" Gina gushed to the magazine. "The ring is absolutely perfect! The thought he put into it blows my mind."
Gina, 41, said her nervous system was "trying to catch up" to that "magical moment" that happened on the back porch.
"I was also trying to process the iceberg that was being presented to me as well! I of course said 'yes,' and melted into what was the sweetest kiss I've ever felt!" she recalled.
Gina and Travis, 40, were already dressed for the occasion given they have a "fancy dinner night" New Year's Eve tradition every year.
Gina brought three children -- Nick, 13, Sienna, 11, and Luca, 10 -- into the relationship with her ex-husband Matt. And Travis shares Presley, 14, Bennett, 12, and Joey, 9, with an ex.
When reflecting on Travis' marriage proposal, Gina said she didn't see it coming because it wasn't "weird" that he'd want to take a family photo.
"[He] is big on tradition and capturing thoughtful moments and core memories," Gina shared.
It wasn't until Travis "grabbed" her that she "knew something felt different immediately."
Travis apparently opened up about "a lot of beautiful, romantic things" and then popped the question.

All of the pair's kids were in on the surprise, including Presley, who hid in the trees to take photos and film the sweet moment.
"The three of us hugged all teary-eyed and happy, and then walked back into the house where all the other kids were waiting and began to sound off their New Year's Eve horns and launch off confetti poppers!" Gina recalled.
"It was perfect! It meant so much to be there as a family celebrating all together. We were all so happy. Truly a pinnacle moment."
Gina and Travis' family ended up celebrating for the rest of the night, and then the engaged couple had an impromptu photo shoot the next morning.
"It was so fun to recreate the moment the next morning," she said.
Going back to when their relationship first started, Gina told People that a mutual friend wanted them to get together and so she sent Travis a DM on Instagram.
"We hit it off right away. We had an instant connection. We made each other laugh and we were very comfortable around each other right away," Gina gushed.
"We texted and chatted on the phone for a few weeks before we met each other in person. I was in love with him before I even met him in person but just really hoped I was physically attracted to him when I met him. And when I did, there was certainly no issues there!"

"We have navigated through some pretty intense issues that life has handed us already but it has only drawn us closer and made us stronger. He is truly my person and always has been. He was waiting in California for me," she said.
Gina had joined The Real Housewives of Orange County for Season 13 in 2018.
The show aired its nineteenth season from July to November 2025 on Bravo.
